Mustard Madness cooking class at YXEATS

I was prepared to enjoy myself, but I’ll be honest: I had doubts about mustard in cheesecake.

I was wrong.

It was delicious – all of it was delicious. Summer bean salad with maple mustard dressing and roasted cashews. Whole roasted pork loin with dijon Brussels sprouts. Mustard cheesecake with rosemary honey. And what made it even better was the satisfaction of having made it ourselves.

Quench your thirst at these stops in Saskatoon

I was really excited when one of my dearest friends decided to visit me in Saskatoon this summer, all the way from Bali Indonesia.

She and I have laughed, cried and tried to solve the world’s problems over drinks throughout the years, from yukaflux during our college years to warm cups of luwak coffee in the Balinese sun this past November. So I thought it would be fitting for her first time in Saskatoon, to tour the city over drinks, getting to know a few of our cool neighbourhoods and hangouts, while catching up during her short stay.

Handmaking Moccasins at Wanuskewin’s Culture Week

I can’t remember the last time I set aside time for handmade projects that require skill and a creative eye. At least half my job as a digital media content creator is spent in front of a screen or behind a lens. It is less exciting than it appears online.

Which is why I was excited to see an event page on Facebook advertising Culture Week at Wanuskewin Heritage Park. Of particular interest to me was a workshop to make moccasins. It was also free thanks to sponsorship by PotashCorp.

Saskatoon in 24 hours: Great food, humble people, calming pace

I didn’t know much about Saskatoon before this trip. I knew that it was one of the biggest hubs of agriculture in Canada and that is pretty much it. A couple days before taking the flight, I opened Instagram and tried to find as many places as I could via the search section. I saved two coffee shops, an ice-cream parlour and some restaurants that I thought might be nice to try.
